Mercedes Ruehl

Mercedes Ruehl began her career as a highly successful New York stage actress, receiving an Obie for the off-Broadway play The Wedding of Betty and Boo, and a Tony Award for her performance in Neil Simon's Lost in Yonkers. She is perhaps best known for her work as Anne Napolitano in 1991's The Fisher King, for which she won an Oscar and a Golden Globe as Best Supporting Actress.

Ms. Ruehl has also appeared in such films as Big, Married to the Mob, and Last Action Hero. In 1995, she had a recurring guest role as station manager Kate Costas on the hit NBC-TV show Frasier. She can be seen this fall in the film What's Cookin', and next spring in the TV mini-series Widows, which co-stars Brooke Shields and Rosie Perez.
