Born in Scottsdale, Ariz. and raised in Northern California, Carteris grew up loving the arts. She received a scholarship to the San Francisco School of Ballet and, after eight years of dance, began studying acting at the American Conservatory of Theatre in San Francisco. She is a graduate of Sarah Lawrence with a degree in Liberal Arts.

After moving to London to study theater, Carteris worked with teachers both at The London Academy of Music and Arts and The Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts. She then returned to New York to pursue an acting career.

Since 90210, Carteris has dedicated much of her life to working with youth, including programs for D.A.R.E., the Noxzema Extraordinary Teen Program, M.A.D.D. and Read to Grow.

During her five seasons on 90210, Carteris began a career as a producer, creating a series of specials called Lifestories. She went on to produce and host her own syndicated talk show, Gabrielle. Last year, she returned to television with special guest appearances on Strong Medicine, NYPD Blue and The Agency.

Carteris is the proud mother of two girls and currently lives in Los Angeles with her family. She enjoys playing tennis, knitting, skiing, making jewelry and spending quality time with her family.
