Kristen Cavallari is known mainly for her leading role on the MTV reality TV series Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County

She was one of several teenagers who had their real lives captured on the reality TV show. As she progressed from a high school junior in the first season to a school-ruling senior in the second season of the show, her part got bigger and bigger. The show is promoted as the real-life version of the Fox TV series The O.C.; which is a fictional program, also set in the wealthy coastal community of Orange County, California. Over time, Kristin has become the most prominent member of the show.

As a result of the show's extreme popularity, 2005 seemed to be the year of Kristin. She first appeared on the front cover of the October 2005 edition of Seventeen magazine. She made a splash on a group of talk shows such as Jimmy Kimmel Live, Live with Regis and Kelly, and Last Call with Carson Daly. She also made appearances at awards shows such as The Stuff Style Awards and MTV Movie Awards. Cavallari solidified her spot as one of Hollywood's hottest stars after being nominated for Biggest It Girl Of The Year at the VH1 Big In '05 Awards.

In 2006, her hot streak continued. In January she appeared on the The Late Show with David Letterman and posed for the front cover of Teen People Magazine. Cavallari also made an appearance at The 63rd Annual Golden Globe Awards.

Kristin recently co-hosted UPN's Get This Party Started. Her acting career is also beginning to take off with roles in the 2006 film 88 Minutes, starring Al Pacino and the television series Veronica Mars. Get This Party Started was removed from UPN's schedule after 2 episodes, however the show remains on hiatus and could return in the fall.

Like other celebrities, Kristen has become a target of paparazzi. Most often, she is romantically linked to male celebrities through tabloids or other news sources. Among them are Heisman Trophy winning quarterback Matt Leinart of USC, and singer Nick Lachey. However, Cavallari has been quoted many times as being just friends with both. In September 2005, she confirmed her relationship with Princes of Malibu star Brody Jenner, although the two mutually parted ways in February 2006.
