Oleg Yankovskiy, one of Russia's most popular and distinguished theatre and cinema actors, was born in 1944 and is a graduate of the Saratov Theatrical School. He worked in Mark Zakharoy's Lenkom Theatre, the most popular theatre in Russia, where his main roles included Hamlet and Prince Myshkin in Dostoievsky's The Idiot.
Yankovskiy has been acting for 30 years and his filmography includes more than 100 films with leading Russian directors including Ilya Averbach, Vladimir Basov, Eugeniy Karelov, Roman Balayan, Mikhail Shweitzer and Sergei Mikaelyan.
He also had a close artistic connection with director Andrei Tarkovsky, who directed him in two films: MIRROR and NOSTALGIA.
