Mickey Rourke was born in Schenectady, New York. After moving to Los Angeles, Rourke made a series of television appearances before landing key supporting roles in Lawrence Kasdan's sexy film noir Body Heat and in Barry Levinson's ensemble ‘50s comedy Diner.
Rourke went on to deliver intense performances in such films as The Pope of Greenwich Village and Angel Heart, and he showcased his charisma in the steamy romance 9 ½ Weeks. Rourke earned critical acclaim for his portrayal of Faye Dunaway's drunken sidekick in Barfly, as well as the likeable but crooked attorney in the film adaptation of John Grisham's novel The Rainmaker. He has recently been seen in The Pledge, Get Carter, Out in Fifty, Shades, The Animal Factory, Spun, They Crawl and Masked & Anonymous.
Other feature film credits include Desperate Hours, White Sands and Johnny Handsome.
