I found this interview to be an especially moving one. Susan Thompson Buffett tells the story of her meeting of her husband , the super- investor Warren Buffett and of their relationship. She also tells about her own philosophy of life. She at one point during the interview explains to the 'viewer' that she speaks in the way she does because she has suffered from mouth- cancer. In fact the way she speaks gives a touching quality to everything she says. But more than this what she says show a generosity and appreciation of her husband, and a general humane way of seeing things which Charlie Rose at the end of the program rightly commends her for. He tells her Warren has been smart, but you have been wise. And this was precisely my impression of this devoted yet independent woman who gave so much of her life to a husband so different from her.
As Rose will point out in a later show. Warren Buffett's making the largest charitable contribution in history has much of its origin in the ideas and practice of his wife Susan. December 16, 2007
