November 30, 2008Flight of the Navigator is a story that would bring thrills to any young person who is interested in outer space, strange 'creatures' from other planets and trying their hand at actually flying a craft like the one in this movie. The time travel answers some questions about how 'stepping into the future' would affect you and your current family life. The story is entertaining for the entire family.
November 17, 2008 | | It's a childhood favorite of mine | |
I loved this film when I was a kid. And looking back on it, I can clearly see why. The concept of an ordinary kid being a navigator of a spaceship really became something unusual back then. And it's still a benchmark in children's sci-fi as of today. The scientific analysis of the connection between the kid and the spaceship didn't make sense to me back then, but now it's clear, and it's sort of creepy if you think about it. Paul Reubens as Max is a treat, and the supporting cast (especially Sarah Jessica Parker as McAdams) are attention-grabbing. The music is now corny compared to back then, but it's still quite catchy. All in all, it's an entertaining family film . . . that should get a better treatment on DVD!
