| | Great Western, shows truths we're still unwilling to come to grips with today | |
Dustin Hoffman is great in this classic Western. It's one of the best Westerns out there. Hoffman plays a cavalry man who ends up living among the Native Americans. It's a bitter story of how poorly and unjustly were these people treated. Unfortunately, they're not faring much better today and the government does not treat them better either. There are some truths in this movie that we're still not willing to face and come to grips with today. This should be a required material for school kids and grown ups alike. We'd be much more grateful for what we have instead of complaining for what we can't buy if we thought about these things more.
September 6, 2008This is probably my favorite Dustin Hoffman film. Although he is a great drama actor, he excels in comedy. He did this one masterfully.
August 30, 2008 | | Biting indictment of the treatment of Native Americans masquerading as a comedy | |
Brilliant, daring film. Part comedy, part parody of every Western genre, and mostly biting commentary on the treatment of Native Americans. Superbly acted with a standout performance by Richard Mulligan as a smug yet crazy General George Armstrong Custer.
August 23, 2008Sometimes a film comes out that is simply a timeless piece of work, Such is the case for "Little Big Man" Dustin Hoffman shows that he is a true master of timing and along with his dramatic roles that he is a very sound comedian. This is a timeless film, rates with my all time favorites.
