| | One of the scariest movies of all time!! | |
This movie spooked me big time when I was a kid, and now it still gives me a creepy feeling! My mother said she didn't like this movie because of the creeps she got from it. Well, that shows that the writer and especially the director accomplished their goal, right? Let's face it--horror movies with gore and growling monsters and such just aren't scary--just corny. The creepy feeling you get while watching and after watching movies like this is what makes them scary.
George C. Scott is a great actor, Trish VanDevere is hot, and the movie will scare the hell out of you--what more can you ask for? And for [...]?--what a steal. Buy it!
November 10, 2008This movie about a creepy, old mansion is a keeper. It is a real "ghost story," not a stupid slasher flick. There is an actual ghost, with an actual medium, and an actual seance. George C. Scott is also brilliant in this film. If you like a good old fashioned ghost story, this one's for you.
November 9, 2008This is actually a personal favorite of mine! This film is very old but one of the greatest horror-films ever to hit the silver screen. The plot to the story is very well written and the movie is just plain scary!I must admit as a horror fan it's hard not to watch this movie alot, what can I say?it's that good.By the way there is actually a CD of the soundtrack to the film which is digitally remastered and it's quite good as well, but the availability of it is very limited!
November 9, 2008I am over 40 and remember watching this with my brother. Scared the snot out of me and still does. I wish they would re-release it on DVD! Thank you for a great movie and I am still talking about it almost 30 yrs later.
October 31, 2008The Changeling was a great edge of your seat, spooky haunted house film. It was directed by Peter Medak who did a fantastic job in creating this dark and atmospheric film, I think it was more subtle but it still manages to creep out the audience. George C. Scott plays an aging music composer who after a tragic car accident in which both his daughter and wife were killed in buys a mansion. All is well to start with but soon there is a loud banging noise at night and this makes George's character feel abit unsettled, he soon calls a medium only to find out that there was a boy called Joseph who was murdered in the house 70 years ago, George's character then searches throughout the course of the film trying to find the reason why the boy was killed and by whom since the ghost cannot find any peace and the hauntings become more aggressive and more creepy. The changeling had a great storyline with first rate acting from the cast and was a totally enjoyable super natural 80's horror film that has a few twists and turns. There were also a couple of scenes that are guaranteed to make the hair on your arms stand up, that includes the images of a boy drowning in a bathtub, that moving wheelchair and a dark well (BTW this film also inspired the Japanese horror flick Ringu) Real spooky stuff, I highly recommend this excellent film to horror fans.
