A delightful bijoux of a movie

The casting was spot on. Mercurial Johnny Depp can be anyone, I believe he IS Don Juan De Marco. Even at 300# plus, Brando still has it, Dunaway is and will always be a beautiful woman, and the combination obviously worked. The visit of Don Juans mother from Mexico throws a spanner in the Grandmas very believeable story.
In the end, does it really matter what IS, when you can have what you want just by looking with different eyes.
The music by Michael Kamen is superb! I have ordered the sound track. If you don't want to get up and dance (with your dog, if necessary)you just have no fantasy or romance in your soul.
It is a pity that this movie is relatively unknown.Everyone I have shown it to has been touched. I'm just glad it's available. October 19, 2008

It is Johnny Depp's best films. Only he could pull off such a unique and wonderful character. It is a keeper! October 7, 2008

Don Juan Demarco

Great movie for those of us who have reached an age where we may have forgotten how rich love can be with the person you have loved for years. I think we can all learn through the eyes of younger people. April 27, 2008

Depp had me sold that he was Don Juan

After a few weeks since I first (finally!) watched this film, I still would want to watch it again in the near future. It's a good "date" film, especially for the romantic at heart. Not exclusively, though. I know it's Johnny Depp, but all that sex symbol stuff aside, he was convincing and believable as Don Juan. He gets checked into a mental health facility and has all the ladies following him around. Not that I can hardly blame them, but he also managed to charm the big tall (and black) male orderly. Brando is fun to watch, too. These two actors bonded over this experience, which I read somewhere. Brando isn't one to be easily impressed. The story could have been fleshed out a bit more, but it was still a good one and though the ending is a happy one, it wasn't what I expected it to be, either. A worthy addition to anyone's DVD library. April 27, 2008
